Who We Are

Founded in 1926, the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society brought together Italian-American immigrants in Enfield, CT to celebrate what matters most: Family, Faith, and Italian culture. For the last 94 years, the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society and Women's Auxiliary has supported the Enfield community through charitable work and scholarships, provided fun-filled opportunities to celebrate Italian and American cuisine, sports, and hobbies, and dedicated itself to honoring the Blessed Mother, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, for the many wonderful gifts that all our members have come to share. It's in celebrating with Our Lady of Mount Carmel that everyone becomes family and enjoys all that Italian cuisine and culture have to offer in the "slice" of Italy at Mt. Carmel Drive.

Our Faith

As an Italian-Catholic club, we are dedicated to honoring and celebrating Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the Blessed Mother as she appeared to St. Simon Stock and gave him a set of Scapulars on Mt. Carmel in the Middle East. Scapulars are a small brown band that have two icons, or holy pictures, of Mary and the Infant Jesus. Catholics believe that wearing Scapulars reminds one to pay closer attention to one's Faith in daily life. In our own Enfield Club, we celebrate Our Lady of Mount Carmel with an annual Feast and keep a chapel dedicated to her. Family and friends can purchase memorial bricks to go in the Chapel's walkway and light a candle in memory of deceased loved ones or to petition Our Lady for her prayers.
